What is Little
Athletics?
Little Athletics aims to promote and foster athletics amongst young people, and to do this through friendly competition in a well-run, safe, enjoyable family environment. We aim to develop the skills of the children in each new event and to increase their overall level of fitness. It is not a movement to identify elite athletes, although we do foster talent when it becomes apparent. What we try to do is encourage the development of skills and fitness in children of all levels of ability. There is a place for everyone in Little Athletics. Belconnen Wests Little Athletics Club (BWLAC) was established in 1972, and was affiliated with Western District Rugby Union Club and is now proudly supported by Canberra Southern Cross Club , Jamison. BWLAC is part of the ACT Little Athletics Association (ACTLAA), which has members from the ACT and surrounding areas of NSW. The ACTLAA is run by an elected Board of Management. Its tasks are to oversee the conduct of Little Athletics in the region and to organise inter-club competitions. Little Athletics is run by volunteers- parents, friends and relatives. |
